Before you go any further, though, here are a few thoughts on photography:
"Photograph" means "to write with light". That is how the images that you will see throughout this site were first created, using digital single lens reflex cameras. This is only the first step of the process of creating an image, though.
The pixel-manipulation journey is an interesting one and can yield a print that looks much like the original subject, perhaps with some subtle variations,

or something that looks like an oil painting, or watercolor, or pastel. To the right is just one example of many possibilities applied to a digital photograph of lovely New York model, Anna. I use the term "photograph" very loosely throughout this site, to include everything from lightly developed to heavily manipulated images. As you look at the images in the galleries, consider that each can have many different looks, depending on how they are developed in the digital darkroom.
